His former mentor, Dr. Mordecai Sahmbi, a brilliant but rogue scientist, has developed a "time trax" device that allows criminals to escape to the past to avoid justice, altering history in the process. Equipped with a micro-computer named SELMA (Software Emulated Linguistic Manifestation Analyzer) disguised as a credit card and a holographic projector, Darien must blend into modern society while tracking down these temporal fugitives. Each episode sees him confronting a different fugitive and the societal challenges of the past, all while trying to maintain his cover and find a way back to his own time without disrupting the timeline.
